Error messages in FrontPage

Poster: thewolfe
Dated: Sunday March 18 2012 - 21:08:20 GMT

I created a website about ten years ago using Frontpage 2003 using the FrontPage Book so I know no languages. I just found things I liked and copied and pasted them into FP. I'm starting to update the site and am getting an error in FP but not on my site on the net.

"An error has occurred in the script on this page: Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?" Whether I click yes or no twice it goes away.

http://www.dougsstuff.com/Error_message.JPG

My first line is <html>

I can not see the Milonic menu I'm using on FP although it shows up on my site.

I have downloaded the "index.html" to FP that's working on my site but doesn't help with seeing my menu on FP.

I'd like to be able to see my menu in FP so I can see my edited changes although I have another monitor so I can make changes in FP, upload them and then see the results on my other monitor.

Also, unrelated - can I change my e-mail address linked with this account?

Hi,

Two things. Which menu are you using, when I looked at that image it has a path that says ....menu_array.js That file menu_array.js was from Version 3 of the menu which hasn't been used or supported since 2003. Version 5 is at 5.912.

As to Front Page 2003, neither the design view nor the split view is for seeing the menu and the preview view is a hit and miss as far as showing things. As a matter of fact MS has a disclaimer that says 'load your page in a browser to see how it looks' Actually, the menu requires javascript to be processed and FP doesn't do that as far as I know. I'm sure there are programs that will, like their Expressions Web but I can't recomment any since my programs are years out of date. Now, one thing you can try is to load your page in FF and then open the error console which will at least tell you about the error. Maybe it's in a file not on the page? Which browser is doing it? Can you provide a link to your site, I could check that for you.

Hi Ruth,

Thanks for the post. As I had mentioned it had been many a moon since I used Milonic or updated my site. Maybe I was never able to see the Melonic menu in FP.

I tried the error console and got about a hundred hits so I'll look but don't think I will understand what I'm seeing.

I'm not getting an error message in any browsers, only FP.

The site is http://www.dougsstuff.com

Also Ruth, can you tell me what menu does Milonic have now that matches up to the one I was using?

Hi,

Well, they are working on Version 6 now which is designed to use css. Some are trying it out, but I'm not really able to help with that one. Version 5 is still available and I'm actually working on your existing menu_array file to convert it to 5. When I get that done I will post for you and you can then get version 5. There is a converter to convert from 3 to 5 however there seems to be something out of kilter and it's not working, that's why I'm doing it by hand. Version 5 is much easier than 3 but until you actually play with it there is a learning curve, that's why I'm doing the conversion so you'll have it and can then go from there.

You can download it from the main site to play with it while I'm doing the conversion. http://www.milonic.com/ Take a look at the DHTML Menu link in the menu to see the licensing and such, the download is to the right side.

I just remembered to asked about email with this account. If you mean the forum, you would log in on the forum and then go to the User Control Panel and look at Profile and then Edit Account Settings. YOur email is listed there and I guess that's where you'd change it, then fill in the confirm email also.

Thanks so much for your help. I'm so out of my league at this point. it's like learning a new language.

I tried to install menu_sample50_ver5_912 in FP using the Milonic DHTML Menu Beginner User Manual on "installation" but couldn't get that menu to come up in FP either.

I'll hang loose a bit and start getting my site up to date with what I can do.

Thanks for taking an interest.

Question Ruth,

I've tweaked some things on the site like deleting visible borders in my table and I did make the menu longer. I'd like to start changing some of the text in the menu but won't if it will mess up your conversion.

I'll wait to hear from you as to what I can or can't do at this point.

Hi,

Just stopped by to say it will be a few days. I got hit with a down and out cold and have been 'down and out' for a week. I'm just now even out of bed. I'll post back when I have the menu done. Once it is converted, it will be so easy to change the text. It truly is so much easier to use than 3.

Thanks Ruth for the "shout out". I've been home since Friday but my cold didn't get me in bed just hours in front of my computer. Trying to tweak some of my pages on my site w/o messing with the menu.

And in the midst of that my hyperlinks to files in my local web folder quit working in Preview mode. The hyperlinks to the web will work. And in Design mode I can use control + left click to bring them up. Not sure what's that all about.

Anyway, I'm sorry you've been sick and I'll pray for a speedy recovery.

Hi

I have made the new data file that will go with the version 5 of the menu and will post it here below. Now, it takes longer to explain than it does to do this :P

Download the Version 5 of the menu, unzip it to whatever folder you want. Personally I create a separate folder that says milonicmenu. IN the folder you will see a number of files and some subfolder like docs, extras, there an index.htm page the programming files and a menu_data.js file. If you open the index.htm page you will see a menu on it grey in color. That's the one you get in the download. Once you have the folder with all the stuff in it, copy the below file, open the menu_data.js file which came in the download in a text editor, highlight everything, then paste the file you copied below in it. Now you have all your information in that data file. When you then save it change the name, save it as 1homepage_menu_data.js Now you have the original menu_data.js file still available, and you also have your new data file saved in the same folder. Also, copy and paste into that folder the images you are using in the menu, i.e. 3darrow_down.gif, arrow.gif, newsimage.gif, and newsimage_over.gif. You need them in that folder so when you put in the new menu it has the images available to it. Now, open the index.htm page in a text editor [ I dont' use front page so I can't tell you how to do it with that] and find this information

[code<!-- ***** This is the section of code you need to paste into your web pages ***** -->
<script type="text/javascript" src="milonic_src.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="mmenudom.js"></script>
<noscript><a href=http://www.milonic.com/>Milonic JavaScript Menu is only visible when JavaScript is enabled</a></noscript>
<!-- The next file contains your menu data, links and menu structure etc -->
<script type="text/javascript" src="menu_data.js"></script> ][/code]

Change the last line with the src="menu_data.js" so that the src is now src="1homepage_menu_data.js" then save the page as my_page_test.htm then view the page and you should see your menu on the page. Once you are sure that it looks OK, then you just have to upload the program files, milonic_src.js, mmenudom.js and your 1homepage_menu_data.js files and then code your existing dougstuff page with the correct coding. Right now you have
Code:
<SCRIPT language=JavaScript src="1homepage_menu_array.js" type=text/javascript></SCRIPT>
<SCRIPT language=JavaScript src="mmenu.js" type=text/javascript></SCRIPT>

and you should change that to

Code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="milonic_src.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="mmenudom.js"></script>
<noscript><a href=http://www.milonic.com/>Milonic JavaScript Menu is only visible when JavaScript is enabled</a></noscript>
<script type="text/javascript" src="1homepage_menu_data.js"></script>

If you want to make sure there are no problems and want to leave up your existing page, then I would upload copy your existing page, rename it to test_index.htm or something and put the correct coding and check it out. Once you are sure it is what you want, then just make the changes on your existing page which I assume is an index.htm page since it opens when you put in the domain name only.

Here's the code:

Code:
     fixMozillaZIndex=true; //Fixes Z-Index problem with Mozilla browsers but causes odd scrolling problem, toggle to see if it helps

      _menuOpenDelay=150;

Hope this helps. If you need more just let me know. There are some help pages in the beginners section which give you a pretty good idea of how you can work with the menu_data.js files. They really are much easier than the version 3 menu_array.

Hi Ruth,

I can't thank you enough for your fellow up and help. I know that I have "my stuff" that I'm always working on but I also try to make time for others that I can help. I guess this is payback time for me. I have some questions now and probably will as I dive into this.

I'm comfortable communicating through this site or we can do something more on a one to one if you think it would be more appropriate. What say you?

Also, to get me started can you tell me where I would find the name of the menu that I'm using now?

Hi,

I'm not sure what you mean by 'the name of the menu' You are using Milonic Menu Version 3 and the last update was back in 2003, if that's what you mean? The version that I did the 1homepage_menu_data.js file for is Version 5. The files for version 3 are that 1homepage_menu_array.js file and the mmenu.js file.

Sorry, I ment like:

100% Width Span Menu
3D Gradient Block
Activating Functions on Mouseover
Agriculture
Amazon Style Tab Menu
Apple Mac Style Menu
Background Image Buttons
Background Item Images
Blackforest
blocky
Bracket
Breeze
Bronze..............Got these from http://www.milonic.com/menu.php The menu sample page.

I'm just not sure what the name of the menu I originally used although as long as I'm plugging in your script I guess it will just work.

I'm going to get into your fix and then maybe my questions will be more pertinent.

Hello :)

Well, once you get the version 5 you are entitled to any and all of the samples. I wouldn't know why, but if you wanted you could put a different sample on every page on your site!

The conversion I did just used the same design you had, but if you want something different you can do what you like. If you open the 1homepage_menu_data.js file you'll see things like offbgcolor that is the color of the menu items when you don't have the mouse on it, you can make it whatever you want, onbgcolor that's the color when you put the mouse over, offcolor color of the text, oncolor and so on. As you can see, although you'll need to get a feel for it, it's pretty easy to set up for design. What you want to do is look at this forum and read the posts Styling the Menu - Part I, Part II and Part III. They are pretty short and easy to understand.

viewforum.php?f=14

If you need any help, just post back!

I haven't had time to make the conversion yet but will soon. Thanks again for your help and hope your feeling 100% again.

Hi Ruth,

I finally have some time to play with my new menu and have a question:

1. Is this the correct ver 5 http://www.milonic.com/download.php?version=Latest
2. When starting, I use the folder I downloaded from above, rename it and only copy over the gif files to complete the menu.

Well I hit a snag. The menu doesn't show up in FP which it didn't with the old menu either. I tried Kompozer just to test the menu and that didn't work.
To upload the new menu for a test, do I have to upload all the new files I downloaded and changed and does anything else have to be in that folder on the site to see the menu? I could try to move my entire site folder with the help of my site admin so I only have the new Milonic folder with the file changes?

Or.......Ruth, can I rename (like by putting an "X" at the beginning of the file name) the original files on my site that are the same as the new ones I downloaded and then upload the new ones to the site?

Ruth, I was able, I think to test the menu at www.dougsstuff.com/test if you could verify that that's what you were suggesting.

And I still want to verify that I downloaded the Version 5 from this correct place - http://www.milonic.com/download.php?version=Latest

If you can confirm that I'm on the right track so far, I'll go on with your "tutorial".

Thanks & blessings

Hi,

Yes, that is the download for the unlicensed version of the menu and that is the sample you see in that download. Now, that data file I posted for you to copy, if you open the menu_data.js file from the download, then copy and paste what I posted to that file and save it as a different name, whatever name you want, mytest_data.js, for example, then upload it to the same place you have the menu_data.js file and all the other files, and open the page itself and change this line
Code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="menu_data.js"></script>
to this
Code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="mytest_data.js"></script>
Or whatever you named the file. Then you should see the menu that looks like what you have on your site.

As for editors, I tend to use old ones since I don't do a lot of css and I know how to hand code so I can use a wysiwyg editor and then go in the source and fix any of the gobbledy-gook coding they put in. I use a very very old one for layout [aolpress] probably still available but I wouldn't recommend it because it is so out of date [1997] but since I know how to use it and know how to code, I use it only for setting layout and colors, it's got a great color thingee in it, :lol: There is also one called FirstPage2000 which is free and does let you see the page with the menu on it with no problem. If you want to try that one, not for building pages, but for opening and viewing the page with the menu to see what it looks like you can find it here http://www.evrsoft.com/ I suggest you do 1stPage2000, not 2006. 2000 is free, 2006 is free but with popups unless you pay. Since you use frontpage I assume you need it to make your pages, but 2000 would at least let you see the page on your desktop with the menu on it once you made it :)

updating to Milonic ver 5

Hi Ruth,

Sorry to be such a pain but I must be missing something. You said "Change the last line with the src="menu_data.js" so that the src is now src="1homepage_menu_data.js" then save the page as my_page_test.htm then view the page and you should see your menu on the page."

My new 1homepage_menu.....only has the following info which you told me to highlight everything in the "menu_data.js" paste the "[Code<!......in there and then save as 1homepage_menu_data.js. Don't see how the menu sees any of my old menu info.

I can see the "sample milonic" menu on my page http://www.dougsstuff.com/milonicmenu on my site but not my own menu. It looks to me that only using the new downloaded menu and files from Milonic and only changing some script leaves out all of "my" menu info.

Also, just uploading the "milonicmenu" folder to my site I'm not sure sees the "my_page_test.htm " but is probably looking at the "index.htm".

There is no folder or file in the "milonicmenu" folder that has any of "my" menu info.

I'm sure I'm missing something if I'm actually supposed to see my info on sample menu. "you should see your menu on the page"

Hi,

I am so sorry. I truly did not ignore you. I got no notices on new postings, so I just figured no one needed help. I only got one a few days ago, and tonight I was checking to see if there was another posting that hadn't been answered but for which I didn't get a notice and I saw this.

So, going back to your question. Yes, I see the downloaded menu. I have actually created your file and uploaded your data in a file called my_test_data.js. You can download that file here http://support.milonic.com/ruth/thewolfe/my_test_data.js. Once you have it, upload it to the milonicmenu/ folder you created on your site. Now, take that index.htm page that comes in the menu sample download and change that menu_data.js call line
Code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="menu_data.js"></script>
to this
Code:
<script type="text/javascript" src="my_test_data.js"></script>

Make sure that you have uploaded all the images from your old menu and then upload your new index.htm page to that milonicmenu folder with the call for that my_test_data.js on it. You should now see your menu, and not the example menu from the download.

Again, I'm sorry this has taken so long. I seem to be getting notifications again, but I think I'll check the forum every few days to make sure.

Hi Ruth,

No problem on the delay, I've been working on updating my data and my main page.

If this is toooooo much,I would understand. But here goes.

I have two menu_array.js One is called "1homepage_menu_array.js" and "2homepage_menu_array.js" "1" is for my main index page and "2" is for all other pages other than the main page. They both have the same data but the height of the menu is different.

Also I have changed some of the menu verbiage and file names like under "Computer Stuff" "Computer web sites" is now Computer Websites and the file was changed from "computer_web_sites.htm" to "computer_websites.htm". And I changed some names on the menu and file names. I also changed the "Time delay" and the "current page background color" a week or so ago.

It looks like "/my_test_data.js." has the old info in it.

At this point I'll wait to see if my changes make a diff before I stumble forward.

Hi,

I think you are misunderstanding some things. You can't just upload the sample you downloaded and see your menu. You have to open that menu_data.js file and edit it. Well, since I did the editing and put the file up for you to get that part is done, but you have to upload that test data js file to the milonicmenu folder, then you have to open that index.htm page that is in the sample download and change the name of the menu_data.js file to my_test_data.js then re-upload the index page to that milonicmenu folder. Once you do that you will see your menu. The js file I made, you can edit. It is much easier than the menu_array.js file, much much easier.

Now as to the changes you made: just open the my_test_data.js file and edit it the way you want. So, open that my_test_data.js file in a text editor. Then go down until you see
Code:
with(milonic=new menuname("computer")){
Then go to the
Code:
aI("text=Computer Web sites;url=computer_web_sites.htm;");
You then just change the Computer Web sites, to what you want Computer Websites, then where it says url= you would change the url to computer_websites.htm. This menu is much easier to make changes in, much more user friendly. Once you change that, then save the file. If you are going to test it, save it as that my_test_data.js and upload it again to the milonicmenu folder and you should see the changes right away.

Now, as to having two menu files 1homepage and 2homepage. You can do that with no problem and you can test it like this. Open the my_test_data.js file in a text editor, copy the file, and paste it to another blank page and save it as my_test_data1.js, then make any changes you want. Then open the index.htm page, change the call for the my_test_data.js to my_test_data1.js, then save that index file as index1.htm, now you will have two pages and two data files. Upload the my_test_data1.js file and index1.htm file to the milonicmenu folder and you can see whatever changes have been made.

I have to tell you that whatever you think you are getting in the old menu you are not. Your main page with the 1homepage array on it, the menu is NOT 122 px wide. And, on your other pages your menu is NOT 150px wide. The menus are actually about 900px wide, they are centered, and if you use the test file I made you, you will see that those menus are centered and are set to be 116px from the top of the page. Hope this helps.

Hi Ruth,

I have not been able to see a menu yet. I'm looking at http://dougsstuff.com/milonicmenu/index.htm All I see is the verbiage like
Editing the menu
To edit the menu...............

Here's where I am:

1. I have downloaded the Version 5.913 of http://www.milonic.com/downloads/menu/3 ... r5_913.zip, unzipped it, changed the name to "Milonicmenu " and uploaded it to my site.

2. I uploaded the gif images to the Milonicmenu folder.

3. I download "my_test_data.js" changed the verbiage like "computer web sites" to "computer websites" and uploaded it to the Milonicmenu folder.

4. Changed the Index.htm to "<script type="text/javascript" src="my_test_data.js"></script>".

5. If I'm correct there is no longer a "menu_array.js file because that's part of "my_test_data.js"

6. I did not do anything with your April 4 post.

7. Later after the menu is working I will have to change the <SCRIPT language=JavaScript src="1homepage_menu_array.js" type=text/javascript></SCRIPT> to point to the "<script type="text/javascript" src="my_test_data.js"></script>".

I certainty have missed something as our "conversation" stated back in March.

Again I thank you for your assistance and patience.

Hi,

Not sure what browser you are using but when I went, I got an error message saying 'unterminated string constant line 166". Actually it's both line 166 and the next 167 [at least in my editor those are the numbers. Not sure how that happened since the file I uploaded for you doesn't have that error. Anyway, you need to open the my_test_data.js file and go to the apologetics submenu and look at the last two items in that. All lines must have a ; and " at the end of them before the closing ) and a ; after the closing bracket ). You have the semi-color before the bracket but not the " marks. Just add those so it looks like these

Code:
aI("text=No Other Name pt1 (PDF file);url=no_other_name__pt_1.pdf;");
aI("text=No Other Name pt2 (PDF file);url=no_other_name__pt_2.pdf;");

When you add the " after the semi-colon in each of those lines the menu shows up :)

Hi Ruth,

That didn't take long for me to holler "help".

Starting to tweak my menu color, etc. in "my_test_data.js". Hope that's where I'm to change things. Is there a "Menu Items Quick Reference Guide" for my particular menu that shows the function, line number and explanation. I have "DHTML Menu Menu Items Quick Reference Guide" but line number....don't match. I've looked through the "DHTML Menu"/"Menu quick ref guide" menu but didn't see one.

One thing I was looking for on my new menu was "Clickbgcolor". After clicking on menu, I'd like it to stay another color. Like the menu at "http://www.milonic.com/itemproperties.php".
I changed the old menu from "Pink" to #CCE0F5
"#CCE0F5", // Current Page Item Background Color (leave this blank to disable)

Also need to change the length of the menu and don't see where to do that. And the distance of the menu from the top of the page.

Also noticed that on "my_test_data.js" I have 3 areas to change the menu
with(style1=new mm_style()){
with(style2=new mm_style()){
with(style3=new mm_style()){

Which one do I tweak?

Thanks again,

Doug

Hi,

I have no idea what menu quick reference guide with line numbers you are referencing. Is that from the old menu? That guide will not work with this menu. They are not the same.

First, the 3 areas refer to the 3 different styles you have which I made based on your image, subimage uses, not on your color choices. So, each style has exactly the same colors, but style1 uses the 3d down arrow for the main horizontal menu, style2 uses the arrow subimage and the newimages for the image, and style3 uses only the arrow subimage. There are shorter ways to do it, but since you were just starting out I wanted you to see each separate style with everything in it for each category submenu, 1st level, then 2nd level and any other levels beyond that would use the style3. Instead of doing full styles for each one, because there are only a couple of changes I could have written them in a shortcut manner like this:
Code:
style2=new copyOf(style1);
style2.image="newsimage.gif";
style2.overimage="newsimage_over.gif";
style2.subimage="arrow.gif";

Then for style 3 it would be:
Code:
style3=new copyOf(style1);
style3.subimage="arrow.gif";

That shortcut would mean that both style 2 and style 3 would take everything in style1 but would make the changes that you put in it.

Now, as for your color question, the coding is pagebgcolor and pagecolor. If you look in each of the styles you'll see those items, and as I didn't change them it will say pink and purple. So, you just go to that item pagebgcolor="pink"; and change pink to "#CCE0F5"; You'll need to do that in all three styles to have all submenus show the 'page' coloring.

Now, as to the various codes, below my name you should see links to styleproperties.php, menuproperties.php and itemproperties.php Those areas are the quick reference quides for each area of the menu. So, in the styleproperties section you'll see all the properties you can use in the style area, in the menu section you'll see all the properties that are for the menu area, and the item section has all the properties that can go into an item. Many of the properties are repeated, that is you can put them in style, menu, or item. As an example, in the 'salvation' submenu, let's say you wanted just that one submenu to have the offbgcolor black and the onbgcolor white. You could go into each item and code it like this

Code:
aI("text=The 4 Spiritual Laws;offbgcolor=#000000;onbgcolor=#ffffff;oncolor=#000000;url=the_four_spiritual_laws.htm;");

That would mean that when that submenu is opened it would look black with white text and when you did a mouseover of the items, the bgcolor would be white and the text color, black.

Menu Sizing. That coding goes into the particular menu you want to size. So, if you want the main menu to be 800px, you'd go to
Code:
with(milonic=new menuname("Main Menu")){

and add this menuwidth=800;
In that section you'll see the top=116; So change that to whatever you want to be the top placement of the menu.

I hope this helps. If you have any more question, just post here and I'll get back to you. It seems I didn't get a notice again, but I am checking the board every couple of days. I'll make it every evening for a while. Darned notifications!

Hi Ruth,

I was afraid you got tired of all my questions. Although I think I'm getting down toward the end of at least getting my website up and running.

I've got at least 30 people I send out "Tips & Tricks" to via e-mail but will be glad to start using my site again so the info will always be available and easier to "publish". I'm a "gatherer" of info and love to pass it on to hopefully help some people along the way. I've probably got 200 or more bits of info stacked up and ready to share.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would like all menus to be the same. To make 2 & 3 like 1 do I...

replace "with(style2=new mm_style()){" with

style2=new copyOf(style1);
style2.image="newsimage.gif";
style2.overimage="newsimage_over.gif";
style2.subimage="arrow.gif";

and with(style3=new mm_style()){ with

style3=new copyOf(style1);
style3.subimage="arrow.gif";

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, if I leave the new menu in a "Milonicmenu" folder do I have to point to the "my_test_data.js" file in my pages that is now (<script type="text/javascript" src="my_test_data.js"></script>) to (<script type="text/javascript" src="milonicmenu/my_test_data.js"></script>)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And along with the above do I need to change "mmenu.js" file (<SCRIPT language=JavaScript src="mmenu.js" type=text/javascript></SCRIPT>) to another js file?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Again, I can't thank you enough for helping in this process of bringing me up to date.

I know you would not be doing this unless you enjoyed helping others. So now you'll have a hand in me helping others as well.

Thanks and blessings until my next set of questions,

Doug

I'm confused. All the menus are the same - except for the images and subimages. In the main menu you have the 3d downarrow as the subimage. Since the submenus open down and are vertical if you used style1 for all menus the arrows would be pointing down in the submenus when they should be pointing right. Also, you have that newimage.gif in the 1st level subs, that little red dot, so if you used style1 that dot would disappear, or if you put that image in style1 all the menus including the main menu would have that red dot next to every item. So, I'm not really sure what it is you want as to them 'all being the same' since in reality, except for your subimages, and that dot in the 1st level subs, they are the same. Let me know what it is you want to change. You could leave out subimages and the images and then you could use one style, but I don't think you want that.

As to the files, I'm not sure what it is you want there either. Are you still going to be testing and therefore leaving the files in that milonicmenu/ folder or are you changing the whole site to the new menu? Remember, when you are change to the new menu on the whole site, you have to change the call for the menu program files and the my_test_data.js file on all the pages in order to get the menu on all the pages.

So, let me know what about the style and about whether you are testing or changing over and I can better answer the questions :)

Hi Ruth,

As for the first part I do want the menu to show as it does now and want each style to show the same except the "arrows" etc, so if I want the "onbgcolor" different, I change it in all three styles?

And I'm ready to incorporate the new menu into the site.

1. I assume I use my old "Index" file and change the "call" to my_test_data.js or what ever I name it.

2. Do I need to move all files in the Milonicmenu folder to my main folder or are there only particular files that I need to pull from the milonicmenu folder?

3. If I only need some files....which ones?

Thanks for your quick response. I'm anxious to get this up and running so I can start tweaking and adding material.

Thanks & blessings,

Doug

Hi,

Yes, you would change it in all three styles, though if you use the copyOf that I posted previously, that would mean you only have style1 to change. You see the way that copyOf works is, more or less, the program sees copyOf then sees it's a copyOf style1 and say, ah, ok, I copy style1 and just make the below changes :)

As to going live, I would just upload the milonic_src.js, mmendom.js and whatever you name your data file to the root directory, just like you have the old menu. Then on all the pages, just add the correct call.

Also, in case you want them, I have fixed your red dot image and the double arrow so they don't show that kind of whitish area around them. I've included them below. You will have to change the name of the newsimage.gif and newsimage_over.gif in your data file to the names of these items instead if you use them.
Attachment:
reddot_11x11.gif
Attachment:
red_double.gif

Just right click on each and save the images :) Oh, the border doesn't show on the image, that is something the forum is doing!

Hope this helps. Just give a yell if you need anymore info.

Hi Ruth,

I moved the two files (milonic_src.js, mmendom.js) into the main folder.

I have renamed "my_test_data.js" back to my orig file name "1homepage_menu_array.js" and renamed the orig file something else.

NOW.....on my original "index.htm" file I don't need to change the "array" call because the new "array" file has been renamed back to my orig file name "1homepage_menu_array.js" Correct :?:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Below copied from orig "index.htm" page

<SCRIPT language=JavaScript src="1homepage_menu_array.js" type=text/javascript></SCRIPT>
<SCRIPT language=JavaScript src="mmenu.js" type=text/javascript></SCRIPT>
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

What file do I set as call file for the old "mmenu.js" :?:

And then I must change the call for the old "mmenu.js" to the new file name on all of my pages.

At that point I should be seeing "our" :D new menu on my main page and then on all of the other pages accessed from the menu.

Am I on the right tract?

P.S. Haven't actually uploaded anything to the site, working locally.

Right, you do not have to change that one line, but no matter what you do as to renaming, you have to get rid of the
Code:
<SCRIPT language=JavaScript src="mmenu.js" type=text/javascript></SCRIPT>
and add calls for two program files. So, assuming that you have kept the old name for the data file, this is what your calls would be [note that those 1st 3 lines are supposed to be present always:

Code:
<!--
    Milonic DHTML Website Navigation Menu Version 5.0+
    Copyright 2006 (c) Milonic Solutions Limited (UK). All Rights Reserved.
    Please visit http://www.milonic.com/ for more information.
          -->

<!-- ***** This is the section of code you need to paste into your web pages ***** -->

<script type="text/javascript" src="milonic_src.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="mmenudom.js"></script>

<noscript><a href=http://www.milonic.com/>Milonic JavaScript Menu is only visible when JavaScript is enabled</a></noscript>

<!-- The next file contains your menu data, links and menu structure etc -->

<script type="text/javascript" src="1homepage_menu_array.js"></script>

<!-- **** End JavaScript Menu HTML Code -->

You'd put that right after the body tag. Remember that the program files, i.e. milonic_src.js, mmendom.js have to go before the data file, not the way version 3 was set up for calls. Also, do not forget that if you do NOT change the other pages, you would end up with the old version 3 on them [if you kept the files up on your site] and only your index page would have the new version. So, all the other pages must be changed, also :)
