Integrating image menu over Jquery Slideshow

I have a design that was created with the menu navigation integrated into what will be become a Jquery slideshow. The menu is tided to a div tag that layers over the background image. Besides manually positioning the menu over the slideshow. Which I don't want due to browser resizing. Will a Jquery slideshow work as a background and the menu overlay it. Like I have now.
