Search textfield in menu bar

I am trying to figure out if there is a way to place a search box within the menu.

The idea is that we want a search site within the menu that allows them to type right in the menu. I though of trying to locate a div directly on top of the menu item on mouse over, but locating it seem clunky, I thought perhaps you have done this before and can give me and example. The tough part for me is that the contents of the menu change by user rights and the menu is centered in the page so the position is far from constant. It might look something like this:

Home Menu 1 Menu 2 Menu 3 Search:__________ Help

Is there any settings that would allow putting a text box right in the menu?

Hi,

There's no problem you can put a search box in the menu, but you need to get your own search script if you want to search your site. You can either buy one, like the The Google Mini which cost, or you can search the web and get your own search script, there are free search scripts out there. And, then you can put an aI in the menu with a search box. Try this post for more information on that. viewtopic.php?t=9657

You'll see the information setting up a search item and explantions about getting something that searches only your site. Hope this helps. If you are just looking for how to set it up in the menu, then try this post which just has an example put into the menu for someone. viewtopic.php?t=7173

WOW, I had no idea that I could embed html directly in the ai text, I can make that work easily. The search is no issue, I am actually searching a database, I was trying to figure out how to insert the box and a 'button' to make it go.

Thank you.
