Hi

I have use pagecolor and pageimage property for highlighting the selected menu/submenu. but My problem is that when I access the page from some external link, rather that menu/submenu, it is not highlighting.

Example:

Menu1 Menu2
---Sub1 ---Sub1
---Sub2 ---Sub2
---Sub3

If I select Menu1->Sub2, it got highlighted. But If I access the same page with another like (Not from the menu itself), Its color is not highlighting.

Can we do something with this???

Waiting for help.
Thanks

Well, yes, depending on your folder structure. You can set up a pagematch=folderName; It will then set up the match even if you go to the page from an exterior link.

Here is a site that uses this method. http://www.citytech.cuny.edu/index.aspx

Click on the About Us in the lighter blue menu bar. When you get to that page you'll see the Milonic menu About US is highlighted and if you mouseover that item you'll see that More is also highlighted. Mouse off the menu and click on the link at the left 'President's Welcome', then when you get to that page, mouseover that About Us item again and you'll see two items highlighted, both the President's Welcome and Executive Offices, and in the sub from Executive Offices the President's Office will be highlighted. This is because the match for all these items was set as pagematch=/aboutus/president/ So every menu item that shows /aboutus/president/ in the url will show a match.

Hope this helps

Hi Ruth,

thanks a lot for your help. W3C validation is ok,

but with this case, i have used pagematch attribute, but please tell me one thing, can we highlight the menu by our choice using some values. I mean, if I want to highlight specific menu on third page which is not in the menu?

Hi,

The way to highlight a page which is not in the 'path' of the menu as to how you got to it, you would use pagematch as far as I know. So, let's say you want item 6 of a some submenu to be highlighted but you are on item 3 of a different submenu, item 3 being page 3. Then in item six I think you'd put in the pagematch=page3; That should mean that anytime you are on page 3 that item 6 of the different submenu would highlight. I think you'd have to experiment on this and see what happens.

Hi Ruth

I Appreciate your support. Have a look at this scenario:

I have a menu where we have multiple menu items, which again contain multiple sub menu items. Clicking on menu or submenu item show a list of products (At this point menu is ok, its highlighting). Clicking on a Product opens a productdetail page where menu is not highlighting, because productdetail page is not in menu, but in same directory.

I guess, it make a clear picture of my problem. If not, let me know, I'll give you page link.

Thanks for your precious time.

Hi Ruth

Please find following the URL to access the pages:

http://80.79.26.82/LDV-DAF-dily.aspx

Here, On the left side is the milonic menu. In the center part of the page is the Product Detail.
When you click on any menu/submenu, it got highlighted but when you click on product detail, product detail page opens but menu is not highlighted there.

Is there some variables, which I need to use like 0 for first menu 1 for second and so on??

Thanks

Hi,

It is matching the main menu item. I don't think you are going to get it to match the submenu item since as listed the match is for the root directory and whatever page you are on, but since when you go to a page from the product detail area the only thing that matches is the root directory because the page you are on isn't in the menu. The only way I know to get the page to match is if you create a subfolder for those page and then match the folder, but that would mean a lot of subfolders. As an example, let's say you are going to the page for Blok-písty, well if you put that in a subfolder called Blok-pisty and put all the related product detail items in that subfolder and set the match for that subfolder then even when you clicked the link on the product detail page, the Bloc-pisty item would highlight. But, as you can see that would mean a subfolder for each item in that submenu, same for all the other submenus. That is a LOT of subfolders.

Item Bloc-pisty would need a submenu, then the next item which you have as Hlava válcu-ventily, but the page is Bloc-pisty-hlava, so you wouldn't really want it in the subfolder Bloc-pisty sinc that would then highlight both the Bloc-pisty item and the Hlava valcu-ventily item, that means you need a different folder i.e. Hlava so you could set the match to pagematch=/Hlava/ and so on. That is the only way I know to do it for what you want, showing the submenu matches through the page link.

There is a property called regexmatch, this is a 'regular expression match' which can be used to match no matter what a query string or hash value is, for example to match url=sample.php?blah=blah&blah=blah and url=sample.php?foo=bar; you could use regexmatch=sample.php;

But, as you see that is set up for things like urls with query strings or hash values so I don't see how you could use it.

I'm sorry, but those are the only things I know that you could use. I can't find out which version of the menu you have that seems to have been removed from the files, which you should not do we need to be able to know what version you have and the license. The regexmatch would require the newest version, if you decided to do your pages with query strings or hash values. You might contact Milonic directly for support and see if they can help with some other options than those with which I am familiar.

Hi Ruth

I have tried "regexmatch" property with my Milonic menu. but It doesn't work. I guess, I don't having the latest menu with me.

Also, I want to check the version of my currently using menu. Can you please help me with that?

Hi,

There is no way to check it, since someone removed that information from all the files. Usually, you would open the milonic_src.js file and at the top it would have the copyright and the version information.
