Tooltip quirks

Hello,

I have recently dicovered two Tooltip quirks. I'm not sure if they're bugs or not.

1) When the Tooltip delay speed is short it affects the submenus that would be popping out. It either prevents them from popping out or it replaces them with the tooltip box. Look here: http://www.vikenk.com/index_2.html

Both "Resources" menu items have the same submenu. The first item has a tooltip and the second one doesn't. Hover over the first "Resources" item. Notice how the Tooltip comes up but the menu doesn't? Now...hover over the second "Resources" menu and the submenu will pop out. Now...move the mouse BACK over the first menu without moving off the menu and you'll see the submenu pop out quickly, then disappear when the tooltip shows up.

Thinking it may be a version issue, I replaced with 5.760 and tested it with the same results. This happens in FF and in IE.

2) Whenever I upgrade my menu versions, the menu behaves weird unless I reinstall the tooltips module. Most of the time I redownload it and reinstall it, then everything runs normally. For example: I just downloaded V5.760 so I could upgrade my older versions. I replaced the milonic_src.js and mmenudom.js files and tested it. The submenus wouldn't pop-out, the oncolor properties wouldn't change when hovered over, etc.

During my testing, I removed the tooltips module and everything worked fine. I went to the Minolic site and checked the tooltip version, but it hasn't changed. I downloaded it anyway and installed it over the old version, over-writing it. Guess what? Even with the tooltips module, the menu works fine. Even though the tooltips version hasn't changed, simply installing the file over itsself made a difference.

This is not the first time this has happened. The first time it happened, I thought this was a corrupted tooltips file, but now I detect a pattern. I had saved some older versions of the menu, so ran a test on several sites. I installed the old version then upgraded to the new version. The behavior was repeatable. Everytime I upgraded to the new version, the menu would behave strange until I re-installed the tooltips module, even though the tooltips module seems to be unchanged (it's the same version).

Anyone else? Ruth? John? Can you confirm the behavior?

Anyone have any ideas as to why this happens?

Hi,

Well, I had it happen when I downloaded your page, it wouldn't work but when I replaced the tooltips module it was fine. But, I have no way to know if it's something in the tooltips or something that is happening on your upload.

I'll try and set something up on my site and see what happens. It may take a couple of days as I'm going to be off until Monday late.

Ruth
