Menu above flash in Firefox

I did a search but didn't see this one answered. My menu is located above a Flash applet, and in IE it works fine and menus disappear when the mouse is moved off the menu items.

However, in Firefox the menu displays fine over the flash movie (I have fixMozillaZIndex=true), but the menu doesn't disappear on mouseout. Is this an issue with my config or a known problem?

with FF 1.02 menus not closing on mouseout was a known problem, not so with FF 1.5.

Did you study the sample page

Thanks Migru. I did study that example but see nothing that relates to my issue. It does happen with Firefox and the new The menu is located above a .swf movie.

Is there something specific in the menu sample you mentioned that I am missing? I've looked at the data.js file and the source in the html but I see nothing particular that it has that I don't. The html scripting is the same as mine.

Well, in the interest of helping others, here is the official answer. It seems there is a bug in Mozilla. The mouseout doesn't fire if a Div is located over an Object. A demo of a DIV on top of Flash can be seen at - as you can see the onMouseOut event fails to fire at the correct location.

Thanks to the excellent Milonic Support for tracking and reporting this issue to Mozilla.

Unfortunately, there is still no response from the Mozilla team.

They are normally pretty good, but it seems nobody from Mozilla has even bothered to accept the support issue.

Here's the Mozilla ticket:

It might help if others jump on this as Mozilla don't always accept what I say, probably because I'm biased towards the menu

Just FYI, I was running into the same issue with Flash right above DHTML today (and found this thread while trying to figure it out), but I was finally able to fix it by switching wmode to transparent in the Flash code. It's ridiculous that they haven't looked at the bug in a year and a half, but in case anyone else was banging their head against this particular wall I thought this might help! :)
