How to place menu in FP Top or Side "Shared Border"

Hello!
Thank you for the wonderful menu choices! I am using FrontPage 2003 and would like to place the menu in the top "shared border" so I don't have to put the code into every page of the substantial website. However I can't figure out how to do it since the "border" code is hidden. :?:

Can it be done? Do you have any ideas?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hi Deanne,

I don't use FP, so it took awhile to do a little research and find some help for this.

Since the calls for the Milonic DHTML Menu files can be placed after the body tag [the first item after the body tag] you can open the shared border page and put it directly there. The shared border is actaully a page that once designed is then 'included' so the resulting pages you see has that on all of them, as far as I can understand.

Open the web in FP and look into the folder called _borders. If it is the top border where you want the menu, the page is called top.htm. If you open the web in FP and can't see that folder, then go to the menu [the FP menu] and do Tools | Site Settings | Advanced and check the box that says "show hidden files and folders", then click OK and Apply.

Let's say you are putting it on the top border, open the web in FP, go to the _borders folder, and ten open top.htm and code the call for the menu after the body tag. That should do the trick.

Remember, if you put it there, the menu will only appear on pages which has that particular top.htm border page included on them, so if you don't include that page on all the pages on the site, then you won't get a menu on all the pages.

I think I understood the explanation that was given me about this, I hope :)

I found a forum for FP help and that's where I got this information, but since I don't use FP, I'm kind of 'winging' it as to my understanding of what the shared borders are. I'm assuming they are like an include that you would code on any page that you want to have that 'shared' page.

Hope this helps.
