Submenus not closing in firefox

I noticed that milonic's frame sample is still not working correctly. The submenu continues to stay open. Our company purchased a very expensive license a while back and would like to upgrade, but are concerned whether or not this issue can be resolved. Is there any one working on this?

The frames sample from Milonic can be found at http://www.milonic.com/frames/. If you roll over Top 1 from the top frame and move your mouse off to the left over "home," the submenu remains open. This happens both in IE and Mozilla Firefox (Windows XP, 2000, Windows Server and MAC). We have never been able to get it to work on our sites either. Our live site http://www.kolaco.com uses an IFrame version (but this does not work with MAC and Firefox - leaves menu open). We have a development site at http://kola5.kolaco.com/r7/homeb.nsf where we are trying to get the IFrame version to work now since the frames approach does not work either.

We have tried to contact Milonic about this several times with no response. We have also offered to pay additional fees just to get their product to work. At first we thought they did not respond since we were within the maintenance period that we paid for. When we finally got an email it was months later when we did not renew the maintenance and they simply told us we were not under maintenance anymore. We would like to purchase the upgrade, but gee, it would be nice to see it actually work first. Sorry if this sounds a bit harsh, but we have invested so much time and money into this product and are very frustrated and would so much appreciate any help you can offer.

Hi,

On both those links for the iframes you are way downlevel 5.48 which was put out in September 2004, we are now at 5.752. There have been fixes and additions to keep up with changes in browsers and new functionalities. You need to upgrade and see if that fixes the iframe problem.

I've reported the issue with the frames submenu staying open. Hopefully, Milonic will be able to find a solution.

Thanks Ruth. our development site at http://kola5.kolaco.com/r7/homeb.nsf is using 5.751. Our live site kolaco.com is using an older version. The development site works in IE, but not in Mozilla. Doesn't the Milonic web site use the most current version? If yes, then why doesn't their frames version work for them?

Hi,

They are working on it. Frameset is not like divs, iframes or tables where you just divide things. A frameset is actually forcing one browser window to divided itself into areas, each area having it's own separate page, but each page using the browser 'programming' I guess you'd call it. So, you're trying to get one program, the menu, to put part of itself on one frame and the other part, the submenus, on another frame and talk to each other across the pages.

Have you tried your iframe layout with the newest version in those browsers. There have been no posts in the forum about problems in those browsers and iframes, and a lot of people use iframes. Actually, you could test the Milonic site for the iframes with those browsers since it uses the up to date version always.

http://www.milonic.com/menusample11.php

If you mouse over the blue menu you'll see the submenus have part of them open over the iframe. I just tried FF and I'm not seeing a problem.

Can you give me the page you have trying the iframes so I can test things?

Hi,

It's been awhile since I messed with iframes, and I just thought of something, when using an iframe there is a script that needs to be on the page where the iframe is.

Code:
<script>
function openIFrame(iFrameId,winURL)
{
   ifId=gmobj(iFrameId)
   ifId.src=winURL
}

</script>
