reverse proxy (iChain) problem

I've encountered a problem with the menu in the networking enviorment our organization uses. The menu works fine locally, and within the organizations network. However, if you access the menu externally, it passes through our reverse proxy.
Here is an example of what happens:
https://dragonnet.hkis.edu.hk/mydragonn ... s/milonic/
the Menu displays but none of the sub menus show up. the above example has not changed at all from the one in the distribution.
I don't think its an SSL problem as when I view the same page through secure on our internal network it works fine.
The only thing I can think of is that it has something to do IP addresses as the proxy may change them as content is passed though it.
Thanks if anyone has something similar. I don't now what to do at this point. I feel sure the proxy has something to do with it, but need to take something to my admins.
