Menu over PDF & SWF in Windows XP

Hi again,

We're testing more thoroughly your menu for the ability to show correctly over PDF and Flash (SWF). But it gives us strange behaviour in Windows XP (works flawlessly in Windows 2K, and untested in 2K3).

The problem is we have to do 2 clicks in every item (the first click is to activate the menu, and the second click is to the link itself). Also it shows the borders of the PDF control and Flash control enhanced, like in a design layout (see images here for PDF and here for SWF).

It already has the property zindex=10000; for every menu just below the style=...; line.

For diagnose this case, you'll have to:

- Use MSIE 5.5 or higher
- Add http://www.dinko.cl to your list of trusted sites
- Have Acrobat Reader installed
- Have Shockwave Flash plugin installed

The working example is at:

http://www.dinko.cl/~dinko/menu1

Thanks a lot again,
Cro

Hi,

This is something that Microsoft have introduced in their new browsers.

Something to do with Microsoft loosing a legal battle about active content.

There are ways around this and you can see documentation at http://www.milonic.com/activateflash.php

Please note that both methods need to called from within a .js file, you cannot just add the code to your website. if you do not call the code from within an external .js file it will not work.

Hope this helps,
Andy
