ToolTips - OBJECT EXPECTED error.

Hello,

Now it's my turn :>)

On my site, when the toolips are activated, the error "Object Expected" shows up.

This only occurs when the tooltip is activated. If you go to my site:

http:/home.comcast.net/~vikenk and hover over my name in the opening paragraph, you'll see the error.

The error always says
Code:
Line: 69
Char:  2
Error: Object expected
Code: 0

Line 69 in my menu_data.js file refers to "followscroll". I disabled it but it didn't fix the problem. Line 69 in the toolips.js file refers to some code. Just for kicks I disabled that, but it didn't fix the problem either.

This does *not* prevent the tooltips from working, but it generates the error every time.

Not sure why...

HI

cannot see an error (IE 6.02) , no error in FF 1.5....

Michael

In JavaScript (FF1.5, German version) cons message, there is an "error: _iniIF is not defined, Source: http://home.comcast.net/~vikenk/tooltips.js
line: 68" ,

but there isnĀ“t any error message visible on the page itself ????

Michael,

You may have the errors suppressed? I use IE 6 as well. When the tooltip activates, I can see the error in the lower-left corner of the Status Bar. It has a yellow exclamation point and says "error on page". When I double click it, a small window comes up and shows me the error.

It doesn't happen in FF, I don't think. In fact, I've noticed from other people's messages that these "Object epected" errors only seem to happen in IE.

HI

oh, you are right,
the message (in German) says exactly "Objekt erwartet" - "Object expected". I did not take notice...

I'm seeing the same error (error: _iniIF is not defined) in FF1.5, but the tooltip appears to be working properly.

Thanks John,

Well, it's more of an annoyance than a problem. It does not affect the ToolTips operation. Tooltips work fine.

However, the error message still pops up as soon as the tooltips are activated, only in IE. If the viewer doesn't have the error message window suppressed, then they'll forever be closing that box every time a tooltip opens.

Hi Vikenk,

Download the tooltips again, there seems to have been something changed, even though it says it's version 2.2, the new one says for use with menu version 5.742 or higher and that _iniIF isn't in the file, that I could find.
