Print with dropdown menu

Poster: oula

I have version 5+ dropdown menu. When I print a particular page for some reason the dropdown menu appears in white box and block off the text below it. Is there any way to print a page without the dropdown appearing?

For example: If I would print this page: http://www.lawsonsp.com/packages/packag ... ginner.php

In print preview it does not show the white block of the dropdown menu. Once you hit print – it appears and block off the any texts/images below it. How do I get rid of this?

Please help!

Hi,

Check this information from the Faqs for the menu.

Hi – thanks for your reply.

I saw that from the FAQ menu.
That’s for removing the menu when users print your page.
I want the user to be able to print the menu with out the white blocking the text/images below it.
I’m not sure my problem is the IE, printers, or the menu itself.
I hope I’m explaining it right.

Thanks!

You are 9 levels down in the version you're running. Update to the current version first (5.756 - where you must be for support on the forum anyway), and let us know what happens.

How do I update to the new version? How often do I do the updates?
Do I have to buy a new license? I just got it ~3 months ago.
I’m not quite sure how it works.

Thanks!

Go to http://milonic.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3108 and click on 'Watch this topic' at the bottom. Any time a new release is posted you will get an email. Log on to the download site at http://milonic.com/menuvinfo.php and get the new version. Note the note (!) on that page indicating that the only supported version on the forum is the latest version. No, you do not have to buy a new license.

Sorry – I’m new with this. This might be a stupid question.
Once I download the zip files. If I would copy them all into the same folder as my old one – it should replace all of the necessary files? Do I have to re-type/organize my menu again? Or do I just upload a particular and my menu will look the same but all of the problems that I had should work.

Do you have a detail instruction as to upgrade the version without changing my menustyle?

Thanks!

The only stupid question is the one you don't ask! :D

Upload ONLY the 3 menu code files to the same location the old ones are in now - but NOT the _data file that comes in the download. As you guessed, doing that will destroy all your menus.

Hi John,
I replaced the following files:
mmenudom.js
mmenuns4.js
milonic_src.js

Now the forced link is there (how do I get rid of that?) and my orginal problem did not go away.
Please help.

I'm putting the old version back up until further notice.

Hi,

If you are getting a forced link it is because the menu you downloaded was a demo. In order to get your licensed menu you must be logged in on the main site with the registered name you had when you first bought the menu. Unless you used the same name as you did on the forum that will be different.

So, you go to the http://milonic.com/menuvinfo.php and you click on the login button, login and then click on download button once you are logged in.

As to your problem, I am not sure I understand the issue. If you had no background when the menu printed on the page, you'd have a bunch of not very readable text over the top of the page images. Do I misunderstand what you are saying the problem is?

Hi,
I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong here.
I’ve login then downloaded the zip files. Then replaced 3 files and the forced link still there.
Here’s the test page:
http://www.lawsonsp.com/packages/packag ... ST5756.php

Here’s the original problem I had:
For example when I print this page or other pages: http://www.lawsonsp.com/packages/packag ... ST5756.php

There’s a white blocks blocking the texts/images below it. Here’s the picture of what it look like when I printed.

http://www.lawsonsp.com/menu/whiteblocks.html

I only wanted it to print the main menu (Equipment, Training, Customer Service, Contact Us & E-store)
I’ve tested this with many different computers and printers.

I hope this help.
Thanks again!

Hi I just want to let you know that I figure out the new version without the force link.

Still have the printing problems with the white blocks though.

Thanks!

Hi,

Try the newest version, 5.757 for the print problem.

I do not know what you mean by figured out for the forced link. If you have a licensed menu, you should not have a forced link, unless your licensed version is a free license which requires that you place a visible link back to Milonic, for example:

Code:
<a href="http://www.milonic.com/">Javascript DHTML Menu Courtesy Milonic.com</a>

on every page which has the menu. Since the menu is free that is a requirement; it is what keeps Milonic in a position to offer the menu free to charities, schools, etc.

Thank you!
Updating the new version seems to solve the problem.
