Keypress problem

I've revisited keypress after some time away, and running into difficulties.
I'm experimenting the Tramline menu sample downloaded from Milonic.

In order to get keypress to move down this menu, I first had to put in a bogus url for each menu item. (I couldn't figure out any other way to get the tab-move to work.)

But as I tab down the menu, keypress doesn't bring up the submenus to the right. How do I make that happen?
