IFRAMES and RELEASE 5.735

Hi,

observed problems, could not "load" IFRAMES anymore, after having installed release 5.735 !! "Returned" to 5.734, IFRAMES are loading, particularly those from the "Willkommen"-Menu (second menu) !!!
Nevertheless, the problems might be on my side, and not with the menu system, but....5.734 worked !!!

I'm not seeing the problem. Could you put up a test page that uses the new version? I've tried it on my desktop with 5.735 and I'm able to load the iframe just fine.

Hi Ruth,

thank you again for your kind assistance. Maybe I need some more...
I have prepared a test page, as suggested by you, the environment for both versions, basically with an absolute identical number of copies of files (those which are necessary to run the menus and a fundamental number of pages of the website too)

No 1, URL = http://www.dhyg.de/ (default index.html file starts using Milonic Version 5.734) Here everything seems to work as expected.

No 2, URL = http://www.dhyg.de/DHYG/index.html (this copy starts using Milonic Version 5.735 ) But with this version, mainmenu0 and mainmenu1 don´t work as expected, whereas mainmenu3 seems to be ok......???
I continue to improve..and to trace the error.........

For the life of me I cannot figure out what's going on.

I can only suggest that you try putting in the full url instead of information/page.html, and see if that will fix it. Just one more thing to try to trace what's going on.

I will post to Milonic. Sorry I can't figure it out. It's really frustrating.

I think (and by experience) it is just a matter of patience.
Considering, that most probably there is no release published without relevant testing, my expectation is, that sooner or later, the error will be traced. (wherever it is, most probably somewhere between "styles", "semicolons", "double quotes" and "inverted commas" !! ) Thanks for your hint regarding the full URL e.g., I will check this out. But - beyond this - and it might be just a saying "..for the life of me" - shouldn´t we take it too serious? It is just html and javascript code with some css , we will get it managed !! No time to hang the head, we think positive ! When I am reading when and to whom you had given your advice, and in so many cases successful, I raise my hat , you´re doing a great job , frustration isn´t on the agenda or "at" the agenda ? I should study this language.

Your English is pretty good! It's one of the most difficult languages because it has so many irregularities and exceptions, indiomatic expressions, and it takes from all other languages if they have a word, phrase, or expression that most clearly says what is wanted

Hi , I am back again

Tried different approaches, up to now not successful.
Even modified all the URLs, as proposed. and e.g.
placed the mainmenu0 entirely including the subs into the table.
All my "modifications" still worked with the older version but refused to do so with the latest release . The mainmenus (0,1and 2) themselves seem to work, they are displayed and subs are popping up. And menu-topics, which are directly addressed e.g. the "home"(via home-symbol) and the "Gästebuch" (=guestbook) and all the topics of mainmenu2 (which has no subs) are displaying their respective url=file within the IFRAME. But not so the subs!! As if links between the subs and the iframe are somehow interrupted, or the sub-commands are incomplete, although the subs url=file commands are correctly displayed ( pls. see the browsers statusline, when active ).
This, however, seems to indicate, that there is something else which is beyond my consideration - so far. So I think, please do not waste your time. I have to "study" these interactions, befor proceeding. Haven´t used iframes up to now (2 months ago). At first I will produce just a very simple version of all of this, before continuing.
I will report on my efforts and (hopefully) on my success.

Well, I got it to work. There is something wrong in your data file. I made this one, with an extra main menu item with a submenu with links to 5 pages. I put it on my site and set up the structure so that there were folders with the same names as yours, i.e. information, kleinanzeigen, hydrographentag_20, Strand-und-Ozean, info_bibliographie. Then I put a page in each folder 1.html, 2.html, 3.html etc., uploaded your main page and files and the links to open the pages in the iframe worked fine.

Here is the menu_data2.js file with the extra main menu item and extra submenu for you to test.

Hi Ruth !

I was just starting from the beginning, version1-no menu at all, version2- small menu, version3-2menus, version4... etc. then to my surprise, the e-mail monitoring program I am using, popped up - mail from Milonic forum - Your mail.
Things went very fast after that. Some copy work, testing, uploading, again testing from the server, starting the websites indexfile - IT WORKS !!!
I cannot reflect neither in a correct way nor in a foreign language my relief - although we know that there are too many problems in this world which deserve to be considered real problems, compared with some lines of error of a data file........ But this should not and in no way disqualify what you´ve achieved. Thank you, thank you. Great ! I will make use of this extra time to improve the website.
