How to upgrade from 3.5.12 to 5?

I have inherited a website with version 3.5.12 of the menu running. I have tried to just swap out the files with no prevail. What are the steps I need to take to upgrade the code on my website?

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott,

The two menus are not compatible they are totally different as to programming.

To use the new version, you need to go the main site, log in, if you are not registered you need to register, then download the newest version. Once that is done, you can take the menu_array.js file from the other version and you can use the online converter which will convert the file. The online converter is under the DHTML Menu heading of the menu toward the bottom.

Could you provide a link to your site so I know if you need anything special done to the file?

There are a number of read-me files in the download that will give you some help as well. The _data file coding is entirely different (but the converter Ruth mentioned will handle most of that for you), as are the JS calls to the menu files. Also, the links in Ruth's sig will give you a wealth of good information.

Lots of reading? Yes. Worth it? Yes. Support for v3 menus still available? No.

Not really scratch. Use the data converter Ruth mentioned at http://www.milonic.com/converter.php. This will do most of the work for you. However, the output still needs to be checked, as it's not quite 100%.

Arizona State huh? I work as an IT Manager at Sacramento state. ;)
I will give this tool a shot and hopefully it will reduce the time it will take to get it going.

Thanks again
