strange menu text outline in Internet Explorer

Hi,

I am really impressed with the Milonic menu system and can't fault it at all! However there is one thing  partly to do with Windows XP.

A strange outline effect has appeared on the main items of our menu text, only in Internet Explorer when Windows XP's anti-aliasing/text smoothing option is turned on and set to ClearType (Control Panel > Display > Appearance > Effects..)

Image

I'm using menu "Version 5.726 - Built: Wednesday June 8 2005 - 14:19", i've also tried the menu after removing any stylesheets influencing the page but still the outline is there. The same unwanted effect happens on three different PC's until text smoothing is turned off.

I'm unsure as to how many people this affects but maybe there's a workaround anyway?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Hi,

I don't have that system, but I do remember reading something about it, and finally found
the post here. The solution was to set the smoothing property to standard [default].
And, removing the overfilter alpha setting is supposed to fix it, also. I don't know if
you can leave the smoothing 'effect' as it is in IE and just remove the alpha setting in the
overfilter and have that take care of it. You could try that.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply, I obviously didn't dig far enough when searching for similar posts but the bit about removing the Alpha filter does the trick :D

It's no great loss since most of our customers use Firefox or have Macs, but as always we need to keep the IE crew happy

I agree, people like the browser they like and that's all that matters. Wellll, except for one. I send anyone with Opera to my text pages, that browser does off the wall weird things.
