Milonic Menu over Flash in Safari V 1.3

Using Safari 1.3 I've encountered (like many other people here) the Milonic Menu Flickers and only shows 1 or 2 menu items above and below the item thats currently rolled over. I've gone through your forums and it seems the only solution to this is the HideDiv script. However this is not an option for me. I need the menu to work over the top of a flash .swf. Will this bug be fixed in an update any time soon?

Thanks

Hi Jasper,

Please provide a url so we can see the problem.

There is no 'bug'. By default, browsers place embedded plug-in content, such as a Flash movie or Java applet, on the topmost layer. This is a browser programming setting. In order to show the dhtml content [the menu in this case] 'on top' it usually requires having the background of the flash movie be transparent using the wmode tag. It actually doesn't put the dhtml content on top, it allows it to show through the Flash as far as I can tell from my research. Also, the wmode tag is only supported on some browsers/flash versions. If it is not supported the Flash will always be on top, I believe. I think the div hider is for that.

Without seeing your setup we have no idea what the problem is or how to solve it. Many assume X as the problem when it might be something else, but without seeing the page we don't know if X is the problem.

Hi,

This is a bug in the Safari browser that has been reported to Apple many times but we are still waiting for replies and for the bug to be fixed.

Our hands, really are tied with this problem and there is very little we can do until Apple decide to get their head out of the sand and accept that their software does actually contain bugs.
