Status= Info Doesn't Appear in Firefox

Hello,

I was just updating my menu and decided to swing by Milonic to get the latest updates for my license. (I was way back in 5.38!)

Anyway, I noticed that even on the newest version my status= tags aren't appearing in the status bar on my firefox browser. Are there any plans to initiate support for this?

Thanks,

Rob

I've noticed it doesn't work in Netsacpe either. However, if you put in title=whatever text, you will get a notice at the item level when you mouseover. It looks like a tooltip. I'll mention the behavior.

I was using title for a while, but sometimes it gets in the way of other menu items. So far I have only seen status= work in IE. Andy will have to give the final answer on this one.

Hi All,

The final answer is that it's the browser blocking it.

Bascially, some browser developers (and I have to agree with them) consider changing the status text a security issue.

Not knowing the URL you are about to visit isn't good because of recent phishing attacks that have been taking place all over the Web. If you can change something like http://10.0.0.1/evilbank.htm to appear as https://www.yourbank.com/login.htm then the less savy of us will enter their login details and hey presto, emptied bank account

You can switch "Status Changes" back on from the browser settings but you can't expect your users to do this, or even know about it.

It's just another thing we have to put with I'm afraid.

For your information - In Firefox, your can switch "Status Changes" back on by going Menu - Tools - Options - Web Features - Advanced and check Change status bar text

Hope this helps
Andy
