Flash slows down the menu

After added a flash, the menu became slow. When moving mouse over the top navigation, the submenu isnot popped out right away; but like an animation. I don't know how the submenus are built. document.onload=build_sub?
Anyway, now I need some javascript to do the following:
time1 (start time, right after body tag)
time2 (first level menu is built)
time3 (flash loaded)
time4 (submenus are ready)
How to do that? can anybody give me a hint?
Thanks!

Just in case, have you tried a different flash to see if it still does it? There were a couple of posts about something similar and it turned out to be something in the flash, because testing it using a larger flash file the menu loaded without any slow down.
