MILONIC SERVER TROUBLE, NEED HELP!

Poster: Andy
Dated: Wednesday March 17 2004 - 15:14:27 GMT

Hi All,

Are any of you guys experiencing trouble with connections to our website and forum?

Does milonic.com seem a little slow or is it just me?

Your thoughts most appreciated as always :D

Cheers
Andy

I can connect, but it's definitely been slow response on the Forum. The text comes up pretty fast, but all the icons are a drag (noticed it yesterday, but went brain-dead in letting you know - sorry).

Hi Andy,

I've been away from the forums for a while... just got back on a couple of days ago (Monday). Haven't experienced any problems at all with the main site or the forums.

Thanks John, that's exactly what I'm seeing.

You not seeing this Kevin? (welcome back matey)

I don't think it's the server, it seems to be ticking over quite nicely:

Code:
17:02:49  up 7 days, 19:37,  1 user,  load average: 0.00, 0.03, 0.03
55 processes: 54 sleeping, 1 running, 0 zombie, 0 stopped
CPU0 states:   1.4% user   0.4% system    0.0% nice   0.0% iowait  97.2% idle
CPU1 states:   0.0% user   0.0% system    0.0% nice   0.0% iowait 100.0% idle
CPU2 states:   1.0% user   0.1% system    0.0% nice   0.0% iowait  98.4% idle
CPU3 states:   0.0% user   0.1% system    0.0% nice   0.0% iowait  99.4% idle

Anybody else seeing this too?

Cheers
Andy

Jeez - just a tad of elbow room there!

Main site seems to be OK.

Running hot and normal right now.

No it's still doing it for me :( . I have spoken to Adam about this and he said that nobody else is complaing and that it's OK for him too, it's very strange.

If this is just a crappy connection from my ISP then fine but if it's the server connection I really need to find something as it does appear to be having an impact, judging by the logs.

Try doing a full refresh when browsing the site.

I have noticed that actual download speed is fine and dandy, it's just that individual requests are taking too long to process and timing out. The images are then failing to display making the site look shabby, not good.

I've been trying to find this now for over a week

Cheers
Andy.

Unfortunately it's now back to the way it was - draggin'. Full refresh or cached, makes no difference.

 maybe that explains the crashes testing Opera beta for mac. But that was only yesterday and I submitted a report, I hope its not causing extra problems. But it would be nice if it worked on your site. As far as my menu its works fine. The problem occurs when I go from one test menu to the next. The first menu works fine. The next only the background appears and then the browser slows down to a trickle of a response only after a few minutes is it possible to close the browser when that happens.

Had no problems earlier today... but...

Definitely have problems now. Took two tries to get this reply page, and on the second try it took a long time to appear, and not all of the images made it. Also, the previous messages in the thread still haven't shown up. Don't know if this reply will make it, but here goes....

Kevin

Edit: OK... so it made it, but it sure took it's time.

I don't have any problem at all and I'm on dial-up modem. Mac of course. I'm using Safari now.

Above description was only what was happening with Mac Opera beta.

Hi All,

So, here we are just a few minutes after my last post to this thread and... zoom, everything seems to be back to normal. Forum response is good, and main site navigation is nice and quick.

BTW: during my previous post, I was surfing a few other sites while waiting for a reaction from milonic.com. Had no other issues on the other sites.

I'd say there is definitely a problem, and it's one of those really nasty intermittent poblems. Let me know if there's any way I can help.

About 20 minutes ago I was getting no response at all. Just a blank page trying to get to the Forum. Now (obviously) it's back.

I've been having the problem for a while now, but I thought it was ie 5.5 which has been causing me a problem like that every place since I upgraded to it. The browser opens but I get just the blue background, the status line says done and then after a few seconds everything pops up all at once, not a few things at a time, but everything. So, that's why I thought it was the browser, like it was waiting until it had every single item until it loaded. It's still doing it. Same on main site and forums.

OOPS!

Somebody forgot to rotate the web server logs didn't they :x

Now who is responsible for that? - Er, oh hold on, that'd be me then, oops

There was over 2.3GB of log data :D I must auto rotate the logs from now on

Cheers

Still no luck with Opera beta, I'll turn off caching don't suppose that would make a difference?

Yes, Maz... :(

Actually home today, so I'm bouncing back and forth between this piece of junk (Win2K) and the Mac.

Still having problems, boss. Sometimes a page snaps in place immediately, other times I just get a blank. A refresh usually brings the page up then.
