code for unsupported browsers?

Please can someone tell me how to write the code for unsupported browsers or browsers that totally mess with my menu on the -www-link?

Something like If (??? ) else <script></script> in the template?

I don't have any early browsers to test it in. But do have an html menu underneath, so I don't want something like black boxes covering it up.
