Hi there guys!
First of all let me just say that I´m quite new to all of this coding-stuff so please have mercy!
I´ve currently creating a site so I´m doing kind of a testversion to evaluate menus. I want to use frames on the site so therefore i downloaded the frames version and started to work on that...
Problem: In the menu some links have sub-menus and some dont, the problem itself is that when I move my mouse out of, or click a, submenu the link stays in an onmouse mode! It kind of freezes with the onmouse color! I think I´ve tried this in a million different ways now and I´m starting to freak out...
Please, please say that you´ve got some ideas..
I´ve put the site here for you to check!

Thanks in advance/Joachim

Would it not be better to use IFRAMES and the V5 menu? I did and have never looked back.

I have tried to get it to 'hang' on mouseover or on click and I cannot duplicate it...tried Netscape 6, 7 Opera 7, IE5, so perhaps you could say which link is doing this and what browser you are using? Also, your first and second submenus need to be 110 instead of 100...that's why you get the bar at the left side in some browsers, the size is smaller than the longest word. And, in the I think it's the body_array you have a "cccccc", in the middle of noplace between the offset numbers and the beginning definitions of the menus. Version 5 is a much better more up to date does all kinds of the newer things....but I also understand that some sites have frames for a good reason. I think in some cases it's best...but then I don't know about iframes or how to do them

Yeah you´re both right, I should really go with v.5! But right now I´m beginning to feel a little stressed out and I really, really want this to work! You might say that it´s kind of an obsession! I will be sure to check out the things you´ve mentioned...thanx alot!
By the way innkeeper9...what browser are you using since you didnt get it to 'hang'?
Thanx again for your fast replies..
Oh yes...

I removed the cccccc thing and changed the submenu width! Im starting to think that this may be a problem in the mmenu.js file and that one is like latin to me
Could it be that you think, or some strange mouseon-mouseout glitch?

I don't really think that's the case or there would be a lot of posts here, a lot of people use that frames menu. A couple of things, not sure if they have anything to do with it.
First, I checked it in Netscape 4.79, 6,7 Opera 6, 7, IE5 and Firebird. I don't get any glitch as far as getting the link, though the thing seems touchy, meaning you have to really click down on it, if you just do a light click like usual it doesn't register. I'm not sure why that is, but I noticed that you are nesting framesets, using framsets inside of another frameset. I don't know anything about the menu programming itself and do not know if that might be causing the problem. That would have to be one of the tech guys, though you could test it by just doing a none nested frame set and see if the problem stops. The second thing is that the main side menu is not as wide as the longest text, think it's off by about 5 pixels so that in some browsers when you mouseover you get that empty space on the right side with no mouseover color. And, I don't know that this would have anything to do with it, but you got the pagebgcolor and pagecolor set to purple and pink. Hope one of the other guys can help about the mouseover.

Please note (as you obviously must know) that you have removed the copyright notice from the menu code. As it states, in part...
Quote:
All Copyright notices MUST remain in place at ALL times...
Also, since v3 is no longer supported, it would really be to your benefit to move up to v5.

Hi Joachim,
I don't venture into the v3 forums much anymore, but I noticed this one and took an interest because I used and messed with variations of the frames version quite extensively back in the day. The behavior you report was definitely a known bug in v3.5.15, although I don't know that it was reported all that often (it did show up on occasion in the now-defunct mailing list... an alternative to the forums that hasn't existed for some time). It was for this reason that I used v3.0.05... the last release that didn't have this problem as far as I recall. Just for kicks, I went to the milonic site and checked out the frames example... I noticed that it uses a new version: v3.5.16. I have no idea when this build was created, but it couldn't have been very long ago. I tried the downloadable example locally, with both 3.5.15 and 3.5.16. The problem exists in 3.5.15, but not in 3.5.16. I'd suggest that you download the latest example, and replace mmenu.js (and please put the copyright notice back in, as John suggests).
There is also a work in the v5 forums to improve the funcitonality of the frames model proposed by Hergio, in case you're interested.

Thank you so, so much kevin...
The reason that the copyright stuff was removed was the fact that I was sitting with my VISA getting ready to buy it, but then I thought "I dont want to buy something that doesn´t work properly". And after that, the code never really made it back into the script...I´m sorry but it just wasn´t my biggest concern at the time!
As a musician I´m no copyer, I like to pay for he stuff that I like...and I hope that there are more people with those beliefs out there (otherwise I´m going broke! ).
Just so you know!
Thanks again for all your replies!
By the way Kevin!

As I´m looking at the source code in the frames example in can only see the name 3.5.15 being used...where did you download 3.5.16 from?

Hi,
The comments in the html do indeed show 3.5.15. But if you look at the .js code itself, it shows 3.5.16. I got 3.5.16 by following the download link from the frames example page.
I didn't mean to imply that you would be a copier. Part of the reason we look at the copyright comments that are usually at the top of the .js files is because that information also contains the version number of the code you are using. It sometimes helps to know what version you are using before trying to answer a question. With yours, since those comments were gone, it was diffucult to know what version of the actual .js code you were using, even though 3.5.15 was in your html files.
Hope that helps,
Kevin
