RC20 transparency problem

A major change in RC20 is the cause of the transparent backgrounds a lot of us are seeing (including me!). bgimage now needs to be defined in the style, rather than the menu item.
Don't ask, 'cause I don't know...
transparent sub menus

I'm having the same problem on mac browsers -- transparent sub menus.

where can I get a copy of RC19, so I can fix this until the bug is squashed?
thanks

This is due to us tidying things up as we close the RC's and go for final.
We basically didn't want any style properties as part of the menu object definitions. This is why anything related to styles should go in either the style object or the menu item object.
If this is causing too many problems then we'll put it back in.

I am totally confused, where does bgimage and overbgimage go now?
overbgimage only works in menu item or did, well it still does.
bgimage only worked above menu item and is the one not working.
I would rather replace bgimage with border-bottom, is there any change for making a class for border bottom or will I still have problems getting one on and off border bottom? So far I got too many borders on the bottom.
TIA

Now you've got me spinin', too. This morning you said...

It's to do with the bgimage. It needs to be declared inside the style and not inside the menu.
Here you said...

I think we need to have a meeting. Everybody gather tonight at the pub in Birmingham.

Yeah, that's the same thing isn't it?
Tthere are objects to the menu.
Style
Menu
Menuitem
Whatever you put in a style can now go inside a menu item and vice versa.
Only the menu now has restrictions and only menu related properties canbe declared inside them. The Quick Ref guides should help to explain which properties are allowed.
Let me know if it's still unclear.

Is Concord still running because I'm ready for that pint now.
I put bgimage, overbgimage, overimage all in what Andy calls Style now and its working fine now, (well except an over image space I'll check my graphics first).
Thank you

Alas, Concorde has been taken out of service and its parts are soon being auctioned off.
It was a sad day (a couple of weeks ago) for aviation
20 odd years ago we could travel at twice the speed of sound. And now, in the year 2003 the fastest you'll get is around 600 miles per hour, it's quite pathetic really.
We still have pints of beer though
Cheers

That is so sad, I thought I heard something about a part being taken up a river on tv.
I grew up with the sounds of concord being tested while I was in school in Weybridge near Vickers, the original old Brooklands Race Track, later the computer beurue I worked for were all system analysis guys who had worked on concord. Those were in the days of punch card and tape.
Today my condolences go out one of my board members and author on dental mercury Dr. Lydia Bronte who died of cancer.
Time to make great new things happen:)
Maybe Andy is on to something.

I went through the graphics causing a space, I know its just a little thing, but just incase its something that needs to be fixed I'll tell you what's happening.
I put all the graphics in the top Style now, that appears to work, and I uploaded the latest release today.
This is on the top horizontal menu, on its submenus in xpstyle or sub/sub on Tools menu is the same, it has the grey/white background in the off position. The left image in the off position is a blank image that creates the space, the same size overimage has an arrow.
So it doesn't make sense that the size of the background grey is different between off image and on arrow image.
The long url because the site is not launched is always in the www link.

maz

I recently read that one the Concorde's is now owned by the Smithsonian Institute's National Air and Space Museum. It will go on display at the museum's Stephen F. Udvar-Hazy Center, near Dulles International Airport (which is near Washington DC). The center is scheduled to open Dec 15. I remember this because of the recent controversy surrounding the display of the completely reassembled Enola Gay at the same location. The new center will house over 200 aircraft and 135 spacecraft, including the Space Shuttle "Enterprise" and an SR-71 Blackbird. Should be quite an exhibit; well worth seeing if you're near DC and into that sort of thing.

I guess I don't know which space you're referring to. Everything looks normal to me at first look (IE6/Win2k). Which is the offending space, or do I need a different browser to see it? Nice looking site BTW.

Hi Kevin,
Thanks, I took a look at another old browser on a laptop, although its harder to see, it appeared to be okay, so its probably just a mac ie 5.1.7 css bug.
When I mouse over the grey background and the arrow pops up, the grey got thinner, more white space before the text. Strange but I won't worry about it if its okay on newer browsers.
Warm Regards,
maz

Looks really good, Maz. Under Safari I don't see anything at all I can complain about (and you know me!).

Andy,
I'd just like to say I think the change is for the better. I always thought the styles should only be a way to take something you could apply to one menu and apply it all of them at once...mainly to reduce redundant typing.
My only question is, and i am unsure if this was even a valid feature of the menu previously, but what if someone wanted to have a background image for the entire menu? How would you specify an image to be applied (and possibly repeat) to a menu as a whole and have the menu items essentially sit above it?
