Some scripts for positioning "popup" menus

Hello All,

I've been dabbling on and off for several weeks with some scripts that would give a Milonic Menu user more control over the positioning of "popup" menus that open from a standard text or graphic hyperlink. Using these functions, you could, for example, have dual-purpose menus. For example, submenus that are normally attached to a main menu or higher-level submenu can be opened independently, right from a link in the middle of a page. Or, you could have separate menus that are meant only to be used as independent, popup menus. You might also use these functions to open a popup textbox when a user mouses over or clicks on a link or image. There are lots of possibilities. I started doing this mainly as an exercise to improve my understanding of the menus and to improve my general scripting skills. Over the last couple of months, the wish for more control over menu positioning has shown up in various messages in this forum. I think others may find it useful, so I'm putting it out there.

If you want to try it, you can download kc_positionedMenus.zip. To use this file: (1) Unzip the .zip file to its own folder. (2) Place your own recent copy of Milonic's mmenu.js file into the same folder -- I tested with v3.5.12; the latest version as of this writing. (3) Open the index.html file, which contains working examples as well as documentation on using the various functions.

Do me a favor and let me know if you find this stuff useful.

Happy menuing,

Kevin
