Is using Frames a good idea? What are the alternatives?

I am using the menu system, but I don't want to put the code into every page.

The logical thing seems to be to use two frames, one with the navbar in, the other with the rest of the site. But when I do, the drop down menus don't overlap the lower frame.

What am I doing wrong? Is there any other way of getting around it WITHOUT using SSI as I am having no luck with that either.

Thanks.

Andy

I've put my site on-line so you can see the problem I'm having. The URL is:

http://www.alchemistresearch.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/FLHS3/

The main files comprise of:

default.html - the frames page
menu.html - the Milonic nav bar
front.html - the main page

the two JS files are also in that directory, with all pictures and logos in the /IMAGES sub-directory.

Thanks for your help

It's ok, I've decided to abandon the idea. It's not that much hassle to put the script into every page. especially as it doesn't change in any way.

Good choice. The thing is, to get the menu to cross a frame, you have to have the menu code in the nav frame as well as the content frame anyway!
