Large number of menu items

Is there a way to shorten load time of the menus when loading close to 1500 menu/submenu items.
Right now it takes over 15 seconds to load the menus. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Good grief A site of nothing but menu items...

I would suggest moving to v5 of the menu. It has cut load times significantly (although you must admit you have quite a load there).
