Misdirected scroll bar

I have noticed a minor problem with the menu scroll bars in NetScape 4 (Windows version at least, maybe others). If you have access to NS4 take a look at sample menu #2, and then mouse-over the entry for Menu Samples. I do like the look of the scroll bars at the top and bottom of the menu, but I think that the direction indicator (arrow?) at the top should be pointing down instead of up. The first time I saw this, it was very confusing since both the top and bottom scroll bar "arrows" point in the same direction. :?

I really like the way these scroll bars show up under NS4. Is there some way to force this same style in other browsers? I am trying to keep my menu at a fixed width even when scrollbars might be added to the menu. In other words, the scroll bars need to be inside the fixed width, making the menuitems themselves narrower.

The look of the scroll bars is completely dependant on the browser & operating system the page is rendering in. For example, the scroll bars in IE and netscape may look totally different. Also, IE on a Win2000 and a WinXP machine look different as well. There is nothing in the page you can do to change the ways the scrollbars render besides color. You are allowed to change the style of the scroll bars using CSS, but then again, some browsers dont let you mess with the scroll bars.
As to keeping the widths of your items right...I havent checked this, but I thought the scroll bars rendered INSIDE the itemwidth of the menu, so the scroll bar doesnt make the menu any wider, it just takes away from the menu items text space.
