Can you make an image selectively disappear?

Hello,
I'm not using frames, so when you scroll down, our logo across the top of our webpage eventually disappears. To keep customers mindful of the fact that they are at our website, I would like to have a smaller version of our logo appear at the top of our vertical, left-hand navigation bar when you scroll down. But, I don't want the small logo to be there when you're scrolled all the way to the top because you would see it right under the large version of the same logo, and it doesn't look right. Is it possible to have an image show up after scrolling down part way? If, as you scroll down, my smaller logo image seemed to scroll out from under my large, main logo, that would be neat. How do I do this?
Thanks,
Mark
