Borders & Separator Bar

My browser is Opera 6.05. I cannot get the vertical separators to appear in the main horizontal menu. The separators appear horizontally in the sub-menus.

Also what is the use of the 3D border & separator bar, 3D high color and 3D low color.

Is there a document that explains in more detail what each option is used for in the "menu_array.js" file other than the brief comments on each line.
