Mac/IE5 actual link in rollover does not span table cell

i've used both 3.3.19 and 3.4. basically, clicking in the dead space using Mac/IE5 will not go to the link (though the linky hand shows up). It works in pretty much all of the other browsers, though, yay! are there any workarounds? thanks!
