background images and transparent BG color ???

In your new code you have an entry that says you can place an image if the BGcolor is set to transparency. As I understand it, and it works, you set the background colors to "" in other words remove any code to define color. Then I place an image in the line that you have designated in the new version using "image.gif",
The transparency works but there is no image showing up.

Any ideas why? This is with 3.4.7
