Vertical separator getting highlight bg color when horizonta

This is v3.3. The menu's vertical separators are picking up the Mouse On Background Color. I confirmed this by changing the color and, sure enough, the separator colors changed accordingly.

This only is visible in IE6. In NS 6.2.1 it looks fine.

Is there a setting I made that caused this, or is it a bug? I can supply a code sample if you like.
