I figured I should post this here in case anyone else ever has the same problem. We finally resolved it, but it was VERY weird figuring it out.
First, to give you a breakdown, my menu is a horizontal menu w/7 main items and each main item has 3 subitems. I had some friends (3 very technical folks too) testing my menus and they all were reporting that something weird was happening. They would hover over the first 2 items and be able to click no problem, but when they got to the third item in any menu, the dropdown would completely disappear before they could click on it
Now I tried FOREVER to replicate this problem, as did some on the mailing list, but it always worked ok for all of us. My friends were all on different OS's and browser versions, so there was no common denominator as far as I could see. I even created a very SIMPLE secondary page with the menus to see if maybe it was the fancy coding on the first page causing a problem....it wasn't.
After what seemed like an eternity of troubleshooting, my friends (who all live in close proximity to each other) figured out what WAS different for THEM - they were all using Zone Alarm Pro and had the "stop pop up windows" function enabled. As soon as they disabled it, the menus worked like a charm.
What is particularly interesting is that they use javascript menus that Zone Alarm Pro doesn't seem to care about... I don't know WHAT is different that Zone Alarm Pro chokes on this one, but my PopUp Stopper (from PanicWare) doesn't have any issues with it..... Also the FREE version of Zone Alarm does not seem to yet cause this problem (as the "feature" for stopping pop ups is only available in the Pro version....)
Sooooooo, if anyone reports a similar problem viewing your menu, find out if they have ZAPro or some other Firewall or PopUp prevention running and tell them to disable the stop pop up feature. You can recommend they go to PanicWare.com and get the free PopUp Stopper which will not affect normal things like menus LOL.
Otherwise, this script is the best in terms of functionality I have seen and I am really glad to have found it!
Have a great holiday season,
Kryss
