Release 5.726 causing scrollbar on page that shouldn't be.

I noticed that after uploading the files for the 5.726 release, the following problem exists-this was not present in early releases:

Note: you will need to set your screen resolution to 800x600 to see the problem.

If you mouse over the first item on the menu (titled "Motherboards") and then slide down to the item titled ("Setting Up A Wireless Network"), you will notice that the drop-down menu has the scrollbar on it, as it should, as it extends beyond the height of the page, but it also creates another scrollbar on the page itself, which it didn't do in earlier versions and should not be doing.

Hi Rudy,

What browser? I have my resolution at 800x600 and I can't reproduce it in IE5.5, Netscape7.1, Firefox 1.0.2, Opera7.54. I even set my text size to the largest available, and changed my icons on IE to be the large ones with text.

Ruth,

Using IE 6.0

I removed the 3 milonic files from the 5.726 release and uploaded the 3 milonic files from release 5.724 and the problem goes away. I went from release 5.724 to 5.726, so I'm not sure if this bug started with release 5.725 or 5.726. Anyway, definately a bug problem here.

Note: I did put back the 5.726 files so you can still see the problem.

Here is the link again so you can see the problem:
http://www.networkdriven.com/qp/9bb898b.html

Mouse over the first item (titled "Motherboards") and slide down to the item titled "Setting Up A Wireless Network". The slide-out menu opens will the scrollbar, BUT, a scrollbar is also created on the page. If you slide your mouse back up to the first item (titled "Motherboards") again, the page scrollbar goes away again.

Anyway someone could get this to Andy?

Thanks

Well, someone with IE6 will have to check it, since i can't reproduce it. And, of course, not reproducing it, the following suggestion may be not related at all, but have you tried ignoreCollisions=true; in the top of the menu_data.js file, up with the subOffset etc.?

Ruth,
I tried your suggestions and placed _ignoreCollisions=true in the top of the menu_data.js file, but unfortunately that didn't fix the problem. I typed the ignoreCollisions=true in as shown above, as the other entries started with an underscore and do NOT have a semi-colon after them.

Seemed to me there used to be a link in the Milonic Support section where users could report a bug or problem? I now I had done this in the past as I always got a reply back from Andy. Don't see the link anymore on Milonic Menus bar.

Ruth - anyway to get this problem directly to Andy?

Thanks for all your help!

Hi Rudy,

I see the problem in IE6. Your reasoning that's it's a recently introduced bug seems sound to me, although I can't confirm that.

Not that I know it'll help for sure, but the proper name for the property Ruth suggested is ignoreCollisions, without the leading underscore. Many of the more recently added global properties also do not have the leading underscore in the name; you can see a list of global properties here.

For direct support, you might try:

Hi Kevin,

I did correct the syntax to ignoreCollisions=true; however, that didn't fix the problem.

Anyway you can bring this to Andy's attention?

Thanks Ruth, Kevin, and Andy...

Andy has fixed this problem in pre-release 5.727. I tried it out and it no longer adds a page scrollbar - great job!

Thank you all :D
